5-vehicle wreck shuts down section of Hwy 41 in Gibson Co.

The wreck happened around 7:45 Monday morning near 41 and CR 550 N., near Patoka. Deputies say three semis, a pickup truck and a food service truck were involved. They say it was a chain-reaction wreck that began when a semi rear-ended the food truck. We're told one man died at the scene and two other people have been taken to area hospitals to be treated for critical injuries.

The wreck happened around 7:45 Monday morning near 41 and CR 550 N., near Patoka. INDOT officials say the closest state routes in the area that will detour around the scene are SR 56 and SR 65. Name of man killed in Gibson Co. wreck released

The name of the man killed in a five-vehicle wreck on Highway 41 in Gibson County has been released. According to Gibson County Coroner Barrett Doyle, 57-year-old Sammie Johnson, of Patoka, died from blunt force trauma. The wreck happened around 7:45 Monday morning near 41 and CR 550 N., near Patoka. They say it was a chain reaction wreck that began when a semi rear-ended the food truck. We're told Johnson, who was driving the food truck, died at the scene and two other people were taken to area hospitals to be treated for critical injuries.
