Wreck involving church bus causes multiple injuries, closes down Interstate 64 in Franklin County, Kentucky

Crash involving school bus closes I-64 E in Franklin Co.; injuries reported

A wreck involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle has shut down both eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 in Franklin County. Tom Russell with Franklin County Emergency Management said the school bus is from Indiana and is with Lafayette Limo Bus Service. About 10 people were taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the accident happened near the 58 mile marker.  

Fishers church bus involved in Kentucky crash

A bus of students from a Fishers church was involved in a crash in Kentucky Monday morning that sent 15 people to the hospital. The students, from Hamilton Hills Baptist Church, were on their way to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, when their rental bus hit an SUV on I-64, east of Louisville.

Police said a total of 14 people were taken to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries, mainly scrapes, cuts and bumps. There were 34 teens on the bus, 12 of them were hurt.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, traffic had slowed in the eastbound lanes because of an earlier wreck near Midway. The Franklin County sheriff said both accidents were completely avoidable and that the drivers were not paying attention to what was going on in front of them The bus, which is from Indiana, slammed into an SUV, causing it to flip several times.
