Illinois State Police confirm two are dead in an accident on I-74 near Galesburg. Police have shut down the westbound lanes and are rerouting traffic at the Highway 34 interchange.

Westbound traffic was blocked shortly after the wreck occurred. Galesburg police cleared the scene around 5:30 p.m.
Three passenger cars and two semi trucks were involved in an accident on Interstate 74. Clifford A. Rasmussen, 55, was driving a semi-truck and approaching a construction zone when he ran into the back of a passenger car driven by Ryan Love, 40, causing a chain reaction. Love died at the scene, and another driver involved in the pileup, identified as Timothy Feary, 33, died after being transported to a hospital. Rasmussen and one other man, Daniel M. Langan, 57, sustained non-life threatening injuries and were hospitalized. John O. Rattray, 37, was the only uninjured driver.
