(STMW) — An 86-year-old woman was killed in a crash Tuesday morning in west suburban Oak Brook. The driver of the Ford, an 86-year-old Brookfield woman, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, according to police. The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of 31st Street near I-294 at 11:27 a.m., according to a statement from Oak Brook police. The other driver, a 27-year-old Villa Park man, was not seriously hurt and taken to a hospital for evaluation. A red Ford Escort was disabled in the right lane and a vehicle in that lane made a sudden lane change, police said.

An 86-year-old woman died in a crash on west suburban Oak Brook.Emergency crews responded to the scene of the accident on eastbound 31st Street near I-294 just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.Investigators said a red Ford Escort was disabled in the right lane. She was rushed to a hospital, where she later died.The DuPage County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Eleanor Spevak, 86, of Brookfield, Ill.A 27-year-old Villa Park man was driving the Sierra. Police said when a vehicle in front of a white GMC Sierra made a sudden lane change, the truck struck the car.The elderly woman was driving the Escort. He was not seriously hurt, but was taken to a hospital to get checked out.
