Howard's vehicle caught fire after the crash. Long Grove firefighters cut him from the wreckage before taking him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead.
A 58-year-old man has died in a crash in Long Grove Wednesday officials said. The accident occured just after 1 p.m. on Old McHenry Road near Prairie Wind Drive. A preliminary investigation indicated a 2010 Chevrolet HHR was driving southbound on Old McHenry Road when the vehicle left the roadway and hit a parked 2003 Mack truck. The truck, owned by ABC Supply Company of Beloit, Wisconsin, was facing northbound and the driver was unloading material when the crash happened. The driver of the Chevrolet, Mark M. Howard, of Long Grove, was pronounced dead at Condell Medical Center. He was the only person in the vehicle. The driver of the truck, 42-year-old Jose Cruz of Woodstock, was not near the truck at the time of the crash.
