JOLIET '€“ One man was killed in a head-on collision Monday afternoon on Interstate 80 in Joliet. Caves said eastbound 80 was closed until shortly after 7:30 p.m. Westbound traffic was also backed up for a significant distance approaching the crash. The man who was driving the vehicle that crossed into oncoming traffic died. R.A. Caves said at 4:11 p.m. a vehicle traveling west crossed over into the eastbound lanes just east of Briggs Street and struck two other vehicles.

One person was killed and two were injured in a car crash on I-80 at Briggs near Joliet, according to Illinois State Police.Police say around 4 p.m. Monday a vehicle going westbound on I-80 near Richards crossed over to the eastbound lanes and crashed into two other vehicles.Police have not released the conditions of the two injured victims. 

Iowa Man Killed In Crash On I-80

An Iowa man died after his vehicle veered into oncoming traffic on Interstate 80 Monday afternoon in southwest suburban Joliet, police said. About 4 p.m., the driver '€” identified by police as 31-year-old David Zenteno of Des Moines, Iowa '€” was traveling west on I-80 when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic in the eastbound lanes and struck two other vehicles near the Briggs Street exit, Illinois State Police said. Zenteno'€™s vehicle flipped over in the collision and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Driver killed in I-80 crash near Joliet identified as David Zenteno

The driver killed in a crash on Interstate 80 near Joliet was identified as 31-year-old David Zenteno, of Des Moines, Iowa.Illinois State Police said Zenteno was traveling west on I-80 near Briggs in a white 2002 Chevrolet around 4:15 p.m. Monday when he lost control and crossed into the eastbound lanes The Chevy struck a silver 2006 Volkswagen and a black 2011 Dodge Durango and rolled over.Zenteno was pronounced dead at the scene by the Will County coroner. The other two drivers were taken to hospitals. Their injuries were not life-threatening.Eastbound I-80 was closed at Briggs for about three hours. Investigators are looking into why Zenteno lost control of his vehicle.
