Sha-Mhya Hydiah, 19, killed; Zacarin Neal, 2, injured in texting-related crash on Courtney Campbell Causeway in Tampa, Florida
Fatal crash on Courtney Campbell caused by texting, police say
A single-vehicle crash on the Courtney Campbell Causeway on Sunday that killed a Tampa woman and seriously injured a 2-year-old passenger was caused by text messaging, police said Monday. Tampa police say Sha-Mhya Hydiah, 19, was driving west near Rocky Point around 6:30 p.m. when she received a text message and looked down at her phone. She then veered into a concrete barrier and rolled over, ejecting the child from the car. Hydiah, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, police said. Another passenger, 20-year-old Marquise Neal, was wearing his seat belt and sustained non-life threatening injuries, police say. The child, Zacarin Neal, was in a car seat that police say appears to not have been properly buckled.

The girl, Zacarin Neal, was also ejected because her car seat was not secured properly, police said. The toddler and a male passenger, 20-year-old Marquise Neal, were seriously injured. A passerby took the child to Mease Countryside Hospital in Clearwater and she was later airlifted to St. Joseph's. She is expected to survive, police said.
After an injury car accident, take these steps to help the recovery process

After a serious crash, several steps need to be taken, including dealing with the insurance companies, tracking and documenting lost income from missed work, coordinating medical bill payments, and handling an insurance claim.
