SR 528 west shut down after woman, dog killed in fiery wrong-way crash

A woman and dog were killed in a fiery wrong-way crash that has shut down the westbound lanes of State Road 528 for more than five hours. Troopers are still trying to figure out where and how the woman got eastbound in the westbound lanes. The crash happened about 2:20 a.m. as the woman traveled eastbound in the westbound lanes between State Highway 13 and the International Corporate Park Boulevard exit, near Wedgefield. The eastbound lanes were reopened by 4 a.m. Shortly before the deadly crash, a Cadillac swerved to miss colliding with the woman and crashed into a guardrail, Montes said.

One person was killed and several others were injured in a fiery crash early Thursday morning on State Road 528 in Orange County, officials said. The westbound lanes of State Road 528, also known as the Beachline, were shut down between International Corporate Parkway and Dallas Boulevard, near Wedgefield, for seven hours while emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage. The cause of the crash and fire has not been released. One lane was reopened shortly after 9 a.m.
