The crash happened while the student was waiting at the bus stop in the area of Winter Haven Court and Whippoorwill Drive before heading to Wadsworth Elementary School. The student was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol had the crash listed as a "possible fatality" on its website.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which occurred around 8:20 a.m. at Whipporwill Drive and Winter Haven Court in Palm Coast. The boy's condition is not known.
