The vehicle is known as a 'Maverick' flying car and was developed by Dunnellon missionary Steve Saint, who was looking for a better way to travel in remote areas of the world.

"Flying Car" Crash in Florida Leaves Two Injured

The car was originally misidentified as an Aeromobil flying car when the Marion County Sheriff's Office sent out a photo of the Slovakian vehicle, seen below. The correct version of the flying car is the Maverick, seen above.

Two people were hospitalized for injuries after the "flying car" they were testing crashed and caught fire at the Dunnellon Airport. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are not responding to this incident because they reportedly "do not recognize this as an aircraft." More information as it becomes available.
