Bus driver hailed a 'hero' in deadly crash

Kathy Moye has been driving school buses in the county for 22 years. She says her experience helped her make a split-second decision to save the kids on the bus.

"I veered to the right and just missed getting hit. Then, he continued on and flipped a half a dozen more times behind me," she said.

FHP: Palatka man killed in crash on US 17

Kendrick's truck went airborne across the median and flipped multiple times across U.S. 17 northbound. Kendrick, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and landed in the median, the FHP said.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at least one person is dead following an accident in Palatka, Putnam County Friday at about 7 a.m. on U.S. 17 near T.R. Williams Lane. A man was driving a pickup truck south on U.S. 17 when he lost control, drifted into the median, and flipped several times. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The rolling truck narrowly missed a school bus carrying children driven by Kathy Moye, who successfully maneuvered around the accident.

I pulled up to intersection wondering what was going oni saw people looking and one man taking video with carmera i saw them drawing backand thensaw man rolling over and over i was trying to acess what to do i wanted to park rite there jump out and run to him but i would have blocked traffic and just as i was goinbg to jump out i heard the sirens approach and decided i would be more of a hindrance and so thinking he would get help i prayed and thought i will visit inhospital but when i started to find out his name on internet iI SAW HE HAD PASSEDE . I AM SORRY I DID NOT GO WITH MY GUT AND GET OUT AND HUG HIM OR CALM HIM DOWN I CAN NOT GET HIM OUT OF MY MIND PRAYING FOR FAMILY HE IS WITH THE LORD AND WE WILL SEE HIM AT THE GATHERING
