Woman caught beneath tractor-trailer rig killed Friday in Jacksonville

A 42-year-old woman was killed Friday when she somehow became stuck beneath a tractor-trailer rig and was dragged from a convenience store parking lot, Jacksonville police said. The woman was at a Kangaroo station in the 100 block of Chaffee Road when the rig driver struck her, Sgt. Donald Washington Jr. said. The driver, who may not have known the woman was tangled underneath, drove off, dragging her onto Chaffee Road. The woman, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene.

Deadly hit and run on the Westside

A woman is dead following a hit and run crash on the Westside Friday. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to Chaffee Road and Beaver Street around 6 a.m. after receiving reports of a woman lying in the intersection. Evidence at the scene indicates the victim was hit by a tractor trailer in a gas station parking lot and became trapped underneath until her body became dislodged at the intersection, per JSO. At this time, JSO says it's unknown if the driver knew they hit the victim. Washington said the driver could face charges if they knew what happened. According to JSO, the white adult female died on the scene.

Dog stayed by owner at deadly crash scene

Her dog remained at the crash scene, lying down near the spot of the accident, until relatives of the victim arrived to pick up the dog. This dog has been lying down, alone near crash scene for some time. Police are investigating a deadly crash after a woman was found dead on a road in Florida. Neighbors told Action News Jax they believe the woman was walking her dog Friday morning when she was hit and killed. JSO said it appears the driver may not have known he hit the victim.

Police find truck that struck, killed woman, left dog mourning

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it has found the tractor-trailer who struck and killed a Jacksonville woman in October. Driver in fatal crash where woman dragged behind tractor-trailer in Jacksonville will not be charged
