2 transported to hospital Saturday night after motorcycle crash in Jacksonville Beach

Two people were transported to a hospital Saturday night after a crash between a motorcycle and another vehicle in Jacksonville Beach, police said. The circumstances of the crash '€” which happened in the 1500 block of Third Street North '€” are unclear and both victims suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department. Neither victim has been identified. The two vehicles were the only ones involved in the crash, police said.

Driver in Jacksonville Beach motorcycle crash identified

Jacksonville Beach police released more information Sunday afternoon about a motorcycle crash that happened Saturday night. Witnesses told police that Dillun Adum Dernick, 21, was speeding and driving recklessly with a passenger near North 3rd Street and North 15th Avenue when another vehicle turned onto 3rd from 15th. Dernick, who wasn'€™t wearing a helmet, slammed into the back of that vehicle, throwing his unidentified passenger into the road while he slid along the street with the motorcycle, police said. Dernick was flown to UF Health Jacksonville and the passenger was taken by ambulance. The occupants of the other vehicle were uninjured, police said.
