The boy, whose name was not immediately released, was biking or walking his bike on a narrow bridge near the school when the train struck him from behind, Kelly said.
“Trains are deceptively quiet when they’re approaching you,” he added. “We often see cases like this, where trains sneak up from behind and hit people.”

Liu, a 16-year-old resident of San Lorenzo, was hit by a Union Pacific train around 8:05 a.m. at Grant and Railroad avenues and was pronounced dead at the scene.
