Oakley: Child airlifted to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital after being struck by car

A car "sideswiped" the child, according to Battalion Chief Brian Helmick of the East Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. OAKLEY -- A helicopter airlifted a 3-year-old to a hospital Saturday night after the child was struck by a car in a hit-and-run in a residential neighborhood, authorities said. The child was awake and crying when the helicopter arrived and was expected to be OK, according to authorities. The toddler went to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland with unspecified injuries. The car did not stop, and police were searching for the driver, Oakley police Sgt.
