1 dead, 3 injured in single car crash on I-580 in Oakland

One person has died after a car accident on I-580 at the 98th Avenue onramp early Friday morning.The CHP says a sedan overturned and then landed back on its wheels while trying to get on the freeway. Three people were taken to the hospital. A fourth died at the scene. Officers are investigating what caused the crash.

OAKLAND -- A man was killed and three other people were injured early Friday when a speeding car became airborne and crashed in East Oakland near the Oakland Zoo, the California Highway Patrol said. The driver and one of the women passengers are related, the CHP said, but exactly how was not known. The three survivors, including the 21-year-old driver and two female passengers, ages 23 and 29, are from Oakland. The Alameda County Coroner's Office identified the man killed as Tuiono Puafisi, 19, of Oakland. Puafisi, who was in the front passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene.
