1 Dead, 2 Seriously Injured After Police Pursuit Ends in Fatal Crash

An early Sunday morning police pursuit in Danville ended with the suspect fatally crashing into a tree, injuring two passengers, according to the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department. After fleeing from the officer, the unidentified suspect exited the freeway onto Crow Canyon Road. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the two passengers were transported to medical center in Walnut Creek with serious injuries. While making several attempts at evasion, the suspect left the roadway at a high rate of speed, striking a tree just south of the intersection with Bollinger Canyon Road. The pursuit started at 1:09 a.m. on Sycamore Valley Road near the I-680 southbound ramp when a Danville Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, according to Police Chief Steve Simpkins.

Northern California woman dies in crash during police chase

DANVILLE, Calif. (AP) – A 19-year-old Northern California woman died in a crash after fleeing from Danville police in a stolen vehicle. The Contra Costa Times reports that Hannah Meecham was killed and two passengers, a 19-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, were injured after the crash early morning. The two injured passengers are listed in critical condition. Danville police Chief Steve Simpkins says the crash occurred after a five-mile chase. After the crash, they learned the car had been reported stolen out of Dublin.
