A shooting on state Highway 4 in Concord led to a multiple-vehicle crash that left seven people injured Monday afternoon, a California Highway Patrol official said.CHP Officer John Fransen said suspects in a Nissan Altima fired at an unknown vehicle on the highway's westbound lanes near Willow Pass Road at around 3 p.m.The shooting was witnessed by an off-duty BART police officer, Fransen said.The Nissan then took the Port Chicago Highway off-ramp at a high speed and collided with four other vehicles, injuring the Nissan's three occupants, Fransen said.At least another four people suffered injuries as a result of the collision, Fransen said. Seven people were taken to the hospital with injuries that ranged from minor to moderate in severity.Fransen said it is not yet known if the vehicle that was shot at had any injured victims. That vehicle was not apparently involved in the crash.The two 21-year-old men and a 19-year-old man inside the Altima will be taken into custody after they receive medical clearance, Fransen said.The shooting is being investigated by the CHP. Concord police are investigating the subsequent crash.No further details on the incident were immediately available.
