The three people who were inside the SUV were transported to a local hospital. CHP later confirmed the woman driving the SUV had died from injuries sustained in the crash. The conditions of the other two passengers were unknown.

Sandra Howard of San Diego, 32, was declared dead at Sharp Memorial Hospital shortly after 4:30 a.m. today. Her passengers -- a 33-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man -- were taken to Scripps Mercy and Sharp Memorial hospitals respectively, with major injuries.
