4 in critical condition after plane crash in Sacramento County

Firefighters say the aircraft made a crash landing onto the front yard of a home and that sparked a vegetation fire.

The incident happened in the area of Alta Mesa and Blake roads, east of Elk Grove. The plane was reportedly a small cargo plane.

Capt. Parker Wilbourn of the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, which is assisting Wilton Fire Protection District and Cosumnes CSD Fire Department personnel, said the plane went down just after 4 p.m. to the west of the Alta Mesa Airpark, 9 miles east of Elk Grove.

The four people on board were sent to UC Davis Medical Center, each in critical condition, Sacramento Metro Fire’s Captain Parker Wilbourn said. As of 9:40 p.m., KCRA 3 was told by the fire agency that they will recover from their injuries.
