The Sacramento Fire Department is investigating the wreck, which took place on the northbound side of the freeway near Exposition Boulevard, according to the agency's Twitter page.

Fire In Sheriff’s Detective’s Car Shuts Down Business 80, Lanes Reopening

Business 80 was closed in both directions for about 10 minutes over reports of ammunition on fire inside the vehicle.

It was in the afternoon when an unmarked detective's vehicle driven by a local deputy was rear-ended by another car on a bridge of the Capital City Freeway, which caused a domino-effect that led to many of the cars ahead of the inital crash to collide with eachother, and the deputy's vehicle to catch fire. Fortunately, the deputy managed to escape and was not seriously hurt, and any other injuries sustained in the accident were reported to be minor.
