"I watch these kids walk across the street here with the earphones in all the time and they can't hear the cars. What a senseless thing to happen," she said.

Mariah Burgess, 15, was walking with her twin sister and another friend when was struck in the area of Coloma Road and Folsom Boulevard at around 3 p.m. on on November 13th. Earbuds were found by investigators near the scene of the accident, indicating it’s possible the teen didn’t hear or see the train approaching.

Her name is Mariah Burgess. My baby cousin

Mariah was loved by many, and even though I didn't know her I saw her around school. She shared her beautiful face and personality with many and she will be missed . Some angels get to go home early and be with our Lord,she will be watching over all of us and shining her light upon us. My prayers go out to her family and friends, may God be with you Rest in Paradise Mariah .
