The airport is located next to the interstate, and the plane crashed in the southbound lane just short of the runway. The freeway closed in both directions because wreckage scattered over lanes in both directions.

Francis and Jana Pisano, of Coto de Caza, each had vertebrae fractures that required surgery and suffered cuts in the crash, said CHP Officer Paul Fox.
