Two people were killed early Saturday morning in a multi-vehicle collision on the 605 Freeway in Cerritos, prompting the initial closure of the interstate in both directions at the crash site, authorities said.

The other fatality was a man who had been driving a 1999 Saturn. He died at the scene, the CHP reported. It was not immediately known if he was the lone occupant inside his car.
