Jose Luis Hernandez, 7, and Marco Antonio Hernandez, 9, killed and several people injured when struck by car after three-vehicle collision at Indiana Street and Whittier Boulevard in Boyle Heights, California

The impact of the crash around 7:25 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Indiana Street and Whittier Boulevard caused one of the vehicles to strike five pedestrians standing on a corner, said Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Division.

A witness believes the on-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department vehicle that careened into five pedestrians, killing two children, did not have its lights and sirens on at the time of the crash Thursday night in the Boyle Heights area.   

ose Luis Hernandez, 7, and his 9-year-old brother Marco Antonio Hernandez were both killed as a result of the impact, and their mother remained in critical condition, the Los Angeles Police Department said Friday.
