The California Highway Patrol said the collision happened just after 8 a.m. Wednesday. The crash scene is on Highway 299 about 32 miles east of Redding , about a mile and a half west of Buzzard Roost Road in the Round Mountain area.
Woman killed in crash, Highway 299E to be closed for hours
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 8 a.m. when the driver of the big rig, Louis Antonio Camarena, 28, of Yakima, Washington, heading westbound on Highway 299E, tried to pass another big rig around a corner and rolled the truck.

He collided with the guardrail, and as the big rig started to flip over on its left side, it collided and flipped on top of the pickup truck Ciulla was driving. CHP said Ciulla was pronounced dead at scene.
Just after 8 a.m., a semi-trailer hauling fruit that was heading west on Highway 299 rolled over on top of another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, a 41-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Highway 299 is closed from Buzzard Roost Road to Dechutes Road while police investigate and the road is cleared.
