Three high school students involved in fatal crash

School administrators said they are making sure parents, students and staff are informed.

One high school student killed, two in hospital after car accident

Friends said he was a star point guard for the Las Plumas varsity basketball team. They added he had plans to play in college. "I loved the passion he had for basketball," said Zeke Dugger, a classmate. "There was no other basketball player that had his talent."

Dozens stood outside the church’s doors to listen to friends and mentors offering their reflections on the life of Cameron Sabatino, 17, of Oroville.

Cameron Sabatino’s family has been amazed by the outpouring of support from the community, which included a balloon release with 500 to 600 students at lunch Monday. Chris Sabatino said the family was deeply thankful.

Three students from Las Plumas High School were involved in a multiple vehicle crash on Lower Wyandotte Avenue Friday in Oroville. The collision occurred during the students lunch and there is one confirmed fatality. One student was transported by air to UC Davis, and one student was taken to Oroville Hospital. please educate all of our teenage drivers to wear seat belts! Slow down and be defensive while driving! Do not text or talk on our phones. This will be a reminder of how fast life can be taken from us. We all can do our part to help our young ones. This is so so sad. My cousin was killed at the age of 16. He was in a car wreck as well. It was not his fault, and the other teen invoked was sentenced to 4 years in CYA. Not only did my cousin die, the other young mans life had been taken as well. Prison can be very devastating on the young mind. I will pray for the Sabatino family. Our prayers will be with Lance too...
