DPS: 2 killed in I-17 semi crash

Southbound lanes of Interstate 17 are reopening at Dixileta Drive following a morning crash that left two people dead, The accident initially closed all lanes around 6 a.m. except the HOV lane on Interstate 17 southbound at Dixileta Drive. Backups extended two miles as officers investigated the accident, the Arizona Department of Transportation tweeted.

James Washington, 37, was released from the hospital Tuesday. Detectives from the Arizona Department of Public Safety took him into custody. Washington was also booked into jail on one count of criminal damage and one count of endangerment.
