Initial investigations revealed that a "Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling northbound on the Glenn Highway between Airport Heights and Bragaw when it crossed the center median and struck two sedans and a van," police wrote.
A 19-month-old child riding in one of the sedans was thrown from the car while still strapped in the car seat, police say. The condition of the child is unknown at the time.
Four people have been transported to local hospitals for treatment, though their conditions are unknown.

Shell said it was not clear how seriously the victims were injured. Medical personnel have transported at least one victim from the scene, according to Shell.
A statement from police said drivers along the Glenn Highway can expect delays while emergency personnel are at the scene. Shell said the closure could last at least three hours. Inbound lanes between Boniface Parkway and Airport Heights Drive are closed.
