It was about 4:30 p.m. when a strong thunderstorm with high winds ravaged Mobile Bay, unfortunately at the same time the Daphin Island Regatta sailboat race was taking place. Of the 119 boats involved in the race, the storm capsized ten of them.

George Chiribao was struck by a motorcyclist on April 28th on East Michigan Avenue. The motorcyclist fled the scene, and Chiribao was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Sharen Shields was riding in a car on Highway 98 and Ralph Schumacher Lane with two other people when their vehicle was rear-ended while stopped in traffic. The force of the impact pushed the car 30 feet.

Reginald LaBarron Chambers was riding his 2005 Hummer at about 6:50 p.m. when for unknown reasons his vehicle left the roadway and struck a bridge pylon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Prichard Police are seeking help from the public to find the driver in a fatal hit-and-run crash. Darnell Oshea Powe of Whistler was walking on Wolf Ridge Road when he was hit and killed Friday evening before 9:30 p.m.
