Hawthorne Farmers’ Market reopens in new location following fatal crash
Yet it wasn’t quite business as usual at the Hawthorne Farmers’ Market, which opened for the first time since a horrific accident on Aug. 10. Patron Donna Marie Wine, a 58-year-old borough resident, was dragged to her death by a pickup truck that tore through the stands and booths.

That information was released last week when a judge sitting in Paterson ruled the results of a blood sample James Woetzel gave following the Aug. 10, 2014 crash would be admissible at trial, the report said. Woetzel's attorney had argued the sample was taken without his client's permission.
James Woetzel, of Hawthorne, is scheduled to appear before a judge in Paterson Wednesday.
Woetzel is charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident that resulted in death. He's been held on $200,000 bail.
Authorities say the 48-year-old drove his pickup truck through a barricade on Sunday, hitting three people, knocking over stands and sending produce into the air.
Why every fatality from a crash is not legally a wrongful death
After someone dies in a motor-vehicle accident, grieving family members and friends are often left with many questions. What caused the accident? Could it have been avoided? What do they do now that their loved one is gone?
Sometimes a fatal collision happens through no one's fault. Crashes caused by weather and road conditions, or by wildlife in the roadway, are examples. But when a fatal crash is caused by negligence, then family members should pursue a wrongful death claim, to uphold the victim's rights and begin the financial recovery process.
